“1957 was a great year for Formula One. Following the formula of the 1956 Championship, it was the year in which Moss again challenged for supremacy (this time driving for Vanwall). Of course, 1957 is most commonly remembered as the year in which Juan Manuel Fangio earned his fifth World Championship title behind the wheel of a magnificent, factory-entered Maserati 250F!
Privateers made for a very full field at every Grand Prix; there were at least five 250Fs at each race, and an astonishing fifteen were present at the 1957 Italian Grand Prix! Maserati works racers, however, arrived in style, loaded aboard the Scuderia Maserati transporter. Finished in Maserati blue with yellow accents, the Fiat-Bartoletti Race Transporter looked resplendent amongst the less stylish transporters. Maserati was clearly the class of the field both on the track and in the paddock.”
